Our research concerns the application of ultrafast optics to study quantum phenomena in light and in matter, and at the interface between them.

The main research directions are all concerned with the manipulation of quantum coherence, both for the study of fundamental phenomena, as well as for potential applications, such as quantum enhanced technologies. Current areas of interest range from attoscience, probing the dynamics of small-scale correlated systems on timescales of 10-17 seconds through the generation of highly nonclassical states of light, that can be used for quantum communications or computing. We participate in a number of collaborations throughout the UK, Europe and the US, and have a large number of visitors to the group.
