Research activities:
The Optic of Semiconductor nanoStructures Group (GOSS) is concerned with a wide spectrum of research topics going from fundamental aspects of light-matter interaction to opto-electronic devices, and from electronic structure engineering to material characterization.
Among on-going studies, for instance, are topics such as the optical manipulation of the electron spin in a quantum dot, the fabrication and study of photonic crystal-based devices, or the collective properties of mixte quasiparticules formed by the coupling of a photon and an electronic excitation confined in an optical microcavity.
The thematics are:
- Quantum dots in microcavities
- Optical manipulation of electron spin in quantum dots
- Microcavities in the strong coupling regime
- Photonic crystal for integrated optics
- Heterostructures for infrared detection
- Carriers dynamics in semiconductors
