Newsletter n°11 / December 2014

Dear all,

- The 5th Colloquium of the GDR IQFA, this year in partnership with the GDR Cold Atoms, took place from the 17th to the 19th of November 2014 at ENS Lyon. We would like to thank all the numerous participants that made this event a success.

  • The colloquium gathered approximately 120 participants. A half of them are PhD students and Post-docs, and 20% came from abroad. This demonstrates the excellent dynamics initiated by our two GDRs !
  • During these three days, we could listen to the recent advances in quantum information and quantum simulation, put in context of the thematics identified by the GDR (ARTs). We would like to warmly thank our invited speakers for their contribution to the scientific excellence of this workshop.
  • The PDF versions of the presentations are now available for download by following the link ENS Lyon presentations.
  • We could also see during the poster sessions, the lunches, as well as the colloquium dinner, that many discussions took place. This is very positive since promoting scientific discussions and potential partnership is one of the prime missions of the GDRs.

- Finally, we are very pleased to announce two events:

  • The next colloquium of the GDR IQFA will take place at Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS) in Palaiseau. So save the date !
  • YQIS’15 — Along with its next colloquium, the GDR IQFA will support the launch of a new international conference for young researchers (PhD students and post-doctroal fellows) entitled Conference for "Young Quantum Information Scientists" (YQIS). Initiated by Alain Aspect (IOGS) and Sébastien Tanzilli (University Nice Sophia Antipolis), the first edition of YQIS will be made possible thanks to a fraction of the 2013 Balzan Prize for quantum information and communication awarded to Alain Aspect. More details on YQIS’15 will be provided within the next weeks, so save the date stay connected !

Once again, we would like to thank all the participants to the Colloquium 2014 at ENS Lyon, and look forward to meeting you soon in Palaiseau. Please let us wish you in advance a happy new year 2015.
