par Sebastien_Tanzilli - publié le , mis à jour le

This is the announcement of the 23rd International Conference on Atomic Physics (ICAP 2012), to be held at Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France.

Please see the ICAP 2012 website.

ICAP 2012, organized by IFRAF, follows on from the recent highly successful ICAP conferences held in Cairns, Storrs, Innsbruck, Rio, Boston, Florence, ...

This conference will present an outstanding program of invited speakers and contributed posters covering the most recent advances in the broad field of atomic physics.

- Location

Founded in 1794, Ecole Polytechnique carries out advanced multidisciplinary teaching and research, and symbolizes a tradition of scientific excellence. Ecole Polytechnique has a large international intake (30% of students and 18% of lecturers/researchers), and is a member of the ParisTech advanced education and research body.

The campus is 30 km South of Paris, on the RER B regional train line, 35-40 minutes from downtown Paris.

- Thematics

ICAP 2012 will cover areas such as :

  • Fundamental atomic tests and measurements,
  • Precision measurements, including atomic clocks and atom interferometers,
  • Ultracold gases and Bose Einstein condensates,
  • Ultracold Fermi gases,
  • Atoms and molecules in optical lattices,
  • From two-body to many-body systems,
  • Quantum information and simulations with atoms and ions,
  • Quantum optics and cavity QED with atoms,
  • Ultrafast phenomena and free electron lasers,
  • Beyond atomic physics (bio, optomechanics, astrophysics,...).

A list of confirmed speakers is available on the web site.

Registration will open by the end of the year 2011.
