Newsletter n°3 / January 2011

Dear all, and happy new year,

We are delighted to announce that the First Colloquium of the GDR - IQFA will take place from the 23th to the 25th of March 2011 at the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis, in the Theater of the "Big Castle" (Campus Valrose).
This colloquium will have the shape of a School of Physics on Quantum Information, Foundations & Applications, for young researchers.

- Aim and Scope of the Colloquium

One of the main goals of the new GDR - IQFA is to develop interfaces between the various Quantum Information communities, to create the necessary conditions for a common production of knowledge. This requires the promotion an educational process, mainly for young researchers. Organized at the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis, this first colloquium is therefore shaped as a School of Physics, during which:

  • A noticeable part is dedicated to high-level tutorials on the strategic thematics identified by the GDR;
  • Regular invited talks on these thematics are scheduled to allow state-of-the-art progress to be presented ;
  • Two poster sessions are planned to give the youngest the opportunity to present their work ;
  • Finally, round tables at the end of the colloquium, involving the speakers, the participants, and the GDR board members, will focus on future developments, technology foresights but also debates on the foundations, applications and implications of Quantum Information. The results of these discussions will then be made available to the largest number, both nationally and internationally, through the GDR - IQFA webpages.

Taking into account the large number of out-of-France speakers, the language of this colloquium will be English.

- Registration & Poster Submission

Deadline: the 1st of March 2011.

Please note that no registration fees are demanded.
In addition, and depending on the number of participants, accommodation and meal expenses for the youngest participants will be taken on the budget of the GDR.
No travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of participants,

Best regards,

ST.
