Optical Complex Systems (OCS) 2011, Marseille, September 5-8th 2011

- Objective

OCS’11 aims at providing a forum for researchers, educators, engineers, and government officials involved in the general areas of Optical Complex Systems to exchange views on the future research directions of this field. OCS 2011 will continue the excellent tradition of gathering world-class scientists, engineers and educators engaged in the fields of optical complex systems to meet and present their latest activities.

With a highlighted focus on scientific and engineering challenges in modeling, plasmonics materials, biophotonics optics and complex systems, OCS’2011 has invited outstanding keynote speakers (Prof. Alexei A. Maradudin, Dr. Vasilis Ntziachristos, Dr. Alexander V. Kildishev, Prof. Alexander B. Shvartsburg, Prof. Cheng-Chung Lee...) in four areas in which photonic technologies are applied to innovate and enhance the future:

  • Biophotonics and biomedical optics, Photonics for safety,
  • Security and environment,
  • Quantum communication and processing,
  • Optical systems for sciences of the universe.

- "Quantum communication and processing" session

In order to make Quantum Communication becoming real, efficient and robust field components and systems are necessary. Basic concepts, recent realizations and new trends concerning single photon sources and detectors, quantum state preparation circuits, repeaters and interfaces will be given.

Keynote speaker: Dr. Nicolas Sangouard, Group of Applied Physics of University of Geneva (Switzerland).
Dr. Nicolas Sangouard, senior researcher at the University of Geneva, made several significant contributions, often in the form of proposals for experiments, in the frame of quantum communications (quantum memories, quantum repeaters, entanglement purification, device-
independent quantum key distribution).
