Summer School SUSSP67: Quantum Information & Coherence 28/7-9/8/2011 in Glasgow

by Sebastien_Tanzilli - published on

- The SUSSP67 Committee is pleased to announce the opening of registration and bursary applications for the Scottish Universities Summer School in Physics 67 on Quantum Information and Coherence. It will be held at the University of Strathclyde 28th July to 9th August 2010.

The last 15 years have seen a shift in the emphasis of fundamental quantum physics theory and experiments, from simply generating and measuring quantum systems towards their purposeful control and manipulation, the main driver being the development of quantum information. This has spawned applications such as quantum key distribution, information processing, and metrology. A key component of all the above is the generation and protection of coherence in quantum systems, and this makes up the other theme of the School.

With the above in mind SUSSP67 has two main objectives:

  • To broaden and deepen the background knowledge of young researcher in the general areas of quantum information and coherence through the simple medium of a series of advanced lectures given by acknowledged experts in the field.
  • To provide a perspective of the latest research and future trends in this area.

- Deadline:
We hope to be able to provide part bursaries to students, applications for these end 28th February.
